West End Masterclass series launched

Theatre fans given the chance to join exclusive online events with West End stars

We have launched a series of special West End Masterclasses, which will be held throughout the year, with a different West End star taking part each time.

Exclusive to BOST’s membership base, there is also the chance for three lucky theatre fans to join the sessions.

Elizabeth Farrington, Marketing Manager at BOST Musicals, said: “The recent lockdown has closed theatres across the country leaving performers and audiences alike with a gap in live creative experiences.

“We are hoping to bring some theatrical magic back through our West End Masterclasses and look forward to hosting the first session next week.”

Launching the series on Tuesday 23rd June, was West End leading lady, Helen Hobson.

Fresh from her performance as ‘Diane’ and others in the 2019 West End original cast of Come From Away, Helen has previously starred as ‘Donna’ in Mamma Mia (West End, UK tour & International tour). Her other stage credits include ‘Mrs Johnstone’ in Blood Brothers, ‘Eliza Doolittle’ in My Fair Lady and ‘Grizabella’ in Cats.

Helen also played the role of ‘Cathy’, opposite Cliff Richard, in his 1996 Heathcliff musical, as well as having numerous TV and film credits to her name.

During BOST’s first West End Masterclass, Helen talked through her musical career, shared some expert insight into performance techniques and provided participants with some top tips for audition preparation.

Our second guest speaker is West End Associate Choreographer, Ben Clare, who has worked on ‘Aladdin’, ‘The Book of Mormon’, ‘Sister Act’ and ‘The Bodyguard’ to name but a few!

Ben was also the Mass Movement Coordinator for the London Olympics/Paralympics in 2012.

Anyone wishing to win one of the three guest places for the second West End Masterclass on Tuesday 7th July with Ben Clare, should visit our Facebook page to enter the competition, before midnight on Monday 22nd June, and comment with the answer to this question:

Q) What is the name of the princess in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’?

3 lucky winners will be chosen at random and will be notified by 12pm midday on Tuesday 7th July, ahead of the session that evening.
