Sweeney Todd Auditions

SWEENEY TODD AUDITIONS

Will be held on Tuesday 8th May from 7pm for the characters of Sweeney Todd, Mrs Lovett, Anthony Hope and Johanna;

and on Wednesday 9th May from 7:30pm for the characters of the Beggar Woman, Adolfo Pirelli, Tobias Ragg, Judge Turpin, the Beadle and Jonas Fogg.

Auditions will be held at BOST HQ (24A Clifton Road, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 2SG).

Sweeney Todd Principal Characters:

Sweeney Todd
A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against him. He is Johanna’s father, singularly focussed on taking bloody revenge. Our story’s tormented protagonist.

Playing Age: 40 to 55
Bass Baritone : Vocal range: Gb4 to F2

Mrs. Lovett
An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. She falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture.
Female
Playing Age: 35 to 60
Alto / Mezzo : Vocal range : E5 to G3

Anthony Hope
A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. He helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna.
Male
Playing Age: 20 to 25
Tenor : Vocal range F4 to Bb2

Johanna
A spritely girl, full of innocence, constantly yearning for freedom. Todd’s long-lost daughter and Turpin’s ward.

Playing Age : 21
Soprano : Vocal range : A5 to Bb3

Tobias Ragg
A poor youngster apprenticed to Pirelli. He finds a surrogate family in Todd and Lovett.

Tenor : Vocal range : Ab4 to Bb2

Judge Turpin
A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position in the city and was responsible for imprisoning Todd.

The Beadle
A pompous public official. He is deeply loyal to the corrupt Turpin.

Playing Age: 40 to 55
Tenor : Vocal range : D5 to D3

Beggar Woman
A deranged and schizophrenic woman who harbours a dark, surprising secret.
Female
Playing Age: 35 to 50
Mezzo : Vocal range : F5 to Ab3

Adolfo Pirelli
A flamboyant Italian rival barber; a charlatan with a secret past.
Male
Playing Age: 30 to 45
Operatic Tenor : Vocal range: C5 to B2

Jonas Fogg
The owner of Fogg’s Asylum. He sells the hair of asylum inmates to wigmakers.
Male
Playing Age: 35 to 60
