We are saddened by the recent passing of Davina (Dee) Jones.
Davina was a member of BOST for many years and was a talented performer and good friend.
She first joined in 1979, fresh out of University, for our production of The Sound of Music.
With her beautiful soprano voice and unique ability to capture the character of a role, Davina went on to play leading roles in several of our musicals.
Her standout principal roles included ‘Anna’ and ‘Tuptim’ (in different productions of The King and I), ‘Maria’ (The Sound of Music), ‘Eliza Doolittle’ (My Fair Lady) and ‘Carrie Pipperidge’ (Carousel).
Davina was much loved by audiences and members alike, and she will be greatly missed.
In honour of her memory, we have recorded a musical tribute of the song ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, which can be viewed on our Facebook page here.
Our thoughts are with Davina’s family and friends at this difficult time.
