MARIA and VON TRAPPS cast.

Published:

After several rounds of successful auditions, The Sound Of Music has its family and other characters in place.

The following adults were cast from among many able auditionees; Jessica Walters (Maria), Gareth Casey-Morris (Captain Von Trapp), Meryl Langford (Mother Abbess), Chris Simmons (Max Detweiller), and Elaine Connell (Elsa Schraeder).

We were overwhelmed by the response to our invitation to audition for one of the Von Trapp children… a crowd well in excess of 150 children turned up on the day, escorted by at least an equal number of parents! We were delighted at the standard of singing and presentation, but this only served to make the decisions even more difficult. It was not easy to have to decline so many superbly-talented girls and boys, but only a given number of children could be taken.

Grateful thanks go to everyone who prepared for and attended the auditions; your efforts were well appreciated. To the children and their parents, we extend particular thanks for your patience and good humour during the long and tiring process.

And now, the rehearsal period for the Company already underway, we anticipate a season of enjoyable hard work.

See you in November!
