At the NODA Northwest Awards Night in Blackpool, a gala event attended by 592 participating members, “Crazy For You” was named as BEST MUSICAL 2010.
Beginning with an enjoyable 4 course banquet meal followed by a lively cabaret, general excitement levels began to rise when the prize-winning categories and the relevant nominations were announced, one by one. Winners were applauded, and unlucky nominees wished better fortune next time. Everyone was kept in suspense until nearly midnight before the final category arrived… Best Musical.
We were delighted to hear our Show and Society named as the overall winner for the second time in three years, following our success with “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” previously voted Best Musical for 2008.
The first photograph above records the presentation of the award to some of the “Crazy for You” cast and is followed by a more formal photograph of BOST Chairman, Meryl Langford, holding the trophy (centre) surrounded by other company members. The following pictures show leading man Chris Simmons (Bobby Child) with Collette Clare (Ballet Mistress), then Elizabeth Beattie (Patsy) with leading lady Linzi Stefanov (Polly Baker) and finally, Chris and Linzi holding the trophy, among other BOST members.
