Despite being in the throes of early rehearsals for our November Empire production, BOST has already chosen and made preliminary arrangements for the 2 Musicals we will be bringing to you next year.
To follow the magic and romance of our upcoming The Slipper And The Rose, we will present the ”Broadway Fable” GUYS AND DOLLS. Last seen on a BOST stage in 1995, this big American Broadway show provides a huge contrast as it tells Damon Runyon stories around the colourful lives of gangsters, gamblers and members of a Salvation Army mission who all shared the same patch of New York in the 1950s. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, this uplifting, humorous and happy musical was an instant success, winning all 5 Tony Award nominations in 1951, including Best Musical.
BOST will stage GUYS AND DOLLS, 15th–17th MAY 2014, in the Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton.
Our Empire show the following November will be the family favourite, ANNIE. It will be approaching 12 years since BOST last performed this touching tale of the exploits of the feisty, charismatic red-headed orphan. With well-known songs and characters, not to mention the dog, Sandy, it is no wonder that the original 1977 Broadway production was nominated for 9 Tony Awards and won 6 of the categories, including Best Musical.
Look out for ANNIE,our Pre-Christmas Spectacular, running 19th-22nd NOVEMBER 2014
